The Arizona Dolphins, a 12 & under (12U) flag football team, coached by Robert Barra and Jason Meyers, have been defining success in youth flag football in the state of Arizona throughout years of winning play. Some of the team’s players have been with the Dolphins for more than four years and the Dolphins have competed in every single tournament that Hard Count Athletics has sponsored since 2015, even those outside their home state of Arizona. The Dolphins are currently the #1 ranked 12U team in Arizona and the ninth-ranked 12U team nationally. The Dolphins have won over 70 tournament games since September 2017 and have won ten of the twelve tournaments the team has entered. This includes the Best of the West tournament sponsored by Hard Count Athletics in Los Angeles on February 17th and 18th, the Arizona NFL Flag Regional in Phoenix, Arizona on December 16, 2017, the FFWCT Battle Vegas West Coast Nationals in Las Vegas on January 6th and 7th, the Bring the Heat Spring Shootout II in Arizona on March 10th and 11th, and the 2017 Southwest Showdown in winter 2017.
One of the factors that makes youth flag football such an excellent athletic opportunity for players of both sexes is the small team size. Small team size ensures that all players get the opportunity to develop their skills, but also enable players to get to know one another as teammates and friends. Small teams also allow the players to learn how to work together towards the same goal, which the Dolphins have clearly exhibited through their phenomenal success on the field at both local and national tournaments.
One of the hallmarks of the success that the Dolphins have enjoyed has been the duration of the players’ time together as teammates. Many members of the Dolphins have been playing together for years. Wide receiver/linebacker Tyler Meyers and wide receiver/cornerback Kaleb Noble have been with the team since both were eight years old. Wide receiver/blitzer Steven Huerta and wide receiver/safety Derek Calderon have also been members of the team for over a year. These players form the nucleus of a squad that knows each other’s strengths and weaknesses intimately and that allows the Dolphins to pull together as a team to enjoy their great winning record at both the state and local level.
Acknowledging the tremendous success enjoyed by the Arizona Dolphins, Hard Count Athletics recently began sponsoring the Dolphins. The Dolphins have participated in every single tournament sponsored by Hard Count Athletics since 2015, including the team’s recent triumph in capturing the 12U division at the recent Best of the West tournament in Los Angeles. This includes traveling out of state for multiple tournaments like the Best of West and some of the other tournaments in Las Vegas and elsewhere mentioned above. Hard Count Athletics wanted to reward the commitment, hard work and sacrifice reflected not only by the Dolphins’ players in their success on the field, but also by the team parents and coaches in making the sacrifices necessary to attend multiple tournaments every year out of state, ensuring that their sons and daughters compete against the very best competition out there in the 12U age group. Competing in, and winning, tournaments like the recent Best of the West contributes to the Dolphins’ success and is a big reason they are ranked in the top 10 for 12U teams nationally. In addition to the support from Hard Count Athletics, Hard Count Athletics co-founder Chris Williams has been so impressed with the Arizona Dolphins that his own son C.J. Williams joined the team as a wide receiver/defensive back in October 2017. For their part, coaches Robert Barra and Jason Meyers say that it means the world to the players, coaching staff and the players’ families to take the field knowing that Hard Count Athletics is behind the team 100%. This sponsorship is a testament to what is possible when the players put in the hard work and stay positive.
In addition to sponsoring the Arizona Dolphins, Hard Count Athletics provides youth participants with opportunities to inspire and challenge themselves through camps that help develop their skills and through tournaments where youth athletes enjoy themselves while also learning important skills that will help their playing careers. We put on tournaments that allow our youth to compete against other players their own ages from around the region. Teams that participate in our camps and tournaments often go on to attain impressive success, such as that of the Arizona Dolphins. Our camps and tournaments also give players the chance to meet current and former NFL players who inspire them to compete at their best level and see what is possible with hard work and determination. If your child is interested in participating in meeting NFL players, developing his or her skills in a fun, engaging format that emphasizes character development just as much as skill work, contact Hard Count Athletics today at email@example.com.
